In life, much like smoothies, you get out what you put in.

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I hope you’ve experienced the luck of the Irish today. In honor of this festive holiday, let’s talk about green smoothies. A while ago, I decided to up my intake of veggies in order to get more nutrients.  Someone suggested green smoothies so I gave it a try. My first experience drinking a green smoothie was NOT a positive one, but over time I learned what worked for me and what didn’t. I’m a no fruit, no deal kind of smoothie maker. I keep the recipes pretty simple and buy ingredients that I can use in multiple smoothies and other dishes. When it comes to blending, I use the Nutri Ninja Nutrient Extraction Single Serve Blender. Say that five times fast.

Here are some of my favorite green smoothie recipes.

Green Banana Bama

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • handful of spinach
  • 1/2 cup pineapple
  • 1 cup water

Green Berry Blast

  • 1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
  • handful of kale
  • 1/2 cup frozen or fresh mango
  • 1 cup water

Green Mint Madness

  • 2-3 drops peppermint extract
  • handful of spinach
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup water

Green Machine

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • handful kale
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder (Vanilla works best for me, but I’m sure other flavors would work as well)

How’d I do with naming these bad boys? I included quantities in the recipes, but I usually don’t measure at all. So if you decide to make one of these blended green wonders, be sure to taste test lol.

I have only used spinach and kale in my green smoothies. What about you? Leave any suggestions of other greens I can use in the comments.
